Rules
Welcome to The Stretch, a daily sports trivia game with something for everyone, from the most casual fan to the most dedicated diehard. The premise is simple: seven questions of increasing difficulty, worth an increasing number of points, updated daily. These range from the Gimme, worth 1 point, to the Stretch, worth 7. As you’ll see, each point value corresponds to a particular number in sports, but each question can be about anything sports-related. So for example, don’t expect the Superfecta, worth 4 points, to necessarily be about horse racing, just as the Try, worth 5, won’t necessarily be about rugby.
The Stretch will test your sports knowledge like never before. We’ll be asking you about athletes both famous and obscure, statistical oddities from both past and present, memorable games, and championship teams. Sports movies are fair game, as are crossovers between sports and pop culture. The aim is to make this the most comprehensive sports trivia out there.
To that end, you’ll be given a score at the end of each day’s round to be able to track your progress and challenge your friends. The site will keep lifetime stats ranging from average points per day, to consecutive days played in a row, to the number of times you’ve gotten 7 points for answering the Stretch (as in the 7th inning stretch) correctly.
For those that do manage to nail the final question, you’ll unlock the Octagon, a secret bonus question worth 8 points. Manage to get that one right, and the ultimate test, the Walk-Off, awaits. There’s no better way to prove that you know ball than to walk it off in style with 9 points, and anyone that does will have a badge permanently affixed to their profile to commemorate the achievement. Do it again and again to stay ahead of the rest of the competition and enshrine yourself as a true sports trivia legend. Answering every question correctly in a day will net you 45 points and a Perfect Game, and yes, we track those, too!
Don’t cheat. That’s the only rule everyone must follow here at The Stretch. Any trivia answer is just a Google search or AI prompt away, but let’s be honest – doing that is lame and will just skew the stats. For anyone with FOMO about missing out on the Octagon and Walk-Off questions, you’ll be able to access them once a new day has begun, as well as all previous questions we’ve ever asked.
The time for talk is done. It’s time to step onto the field. Welcome to The Stretch.
